Jon is a 12-week-old male long haired dachshund puppy with a striking dapple coat. He was born and raised in our home, not a kennel, so he’s used to people, noise, and everyday family life by the time he’s ready to go to his new home. Appearance

Jon has the flowing, feathered coat typical of the long haired dachshund variety, marked with the mottled dapple pattern that gives each dog a unique look. Health and Genetics

A Bit About the Long Haired Dachshund

The long haired variety is one of three coat types recognized within the breed, alongside smooth and wirehaired. The longer coat comes from a recessive gene, which is part of why long haired dachshund puppies are harder to find consistently than the smooth-coat variety. Beyond the coat, temperament and size are the same as any standard dachshund — small, loyal, and a little more stubborn than their size suggests.
